Kuldeep Yadav Domestic Career
Kuldeep Yadav hails from Unnao but grew up in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, as the son of a brick kiln owner. It was his father’s encouragement that kept his cricketing dreams alive, leading him to a coach named Kapil Pandey. Despite initially aspiring to be a left-arm seamer like his idols Wasim Akram and Zaheer Khan, his coach recognized Yadav’s potential as a wrist-spin bowler due to his natural turn and variations during trials. From then on, he honed his skills by studying Shane Warne’s bowling techniques, making Warne his role model.
In a candid revelation, Yadav shared a challenging period in his life when he contemplated giving up cricket and even considered suicide after being overlooked for Uttar Pradesh’s under-15 team. Despite this setback, he persevered.
Yadav began his IPL journey with the Mumbai Indians in 2012 and later joined the Kolkata Knight Riders in 2014, representing them in the 2014 Champions League Twenty20. He returned to KKR in the 2018 IPL auction and subsequently joined the Delhi Capitals for the 2022 season. Yadav’s impactful performances earned him the player-of-the-match award four times that season, the most by any player.
