Lack of Drinking Water and Toilets Sparks Outrage at India vs New Zealand Test in Pune Heat

The second Test of the three-match series between India and New Zealand is underway at the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) Stadium in Pune. With New Zealand leading the series after winning the first Test, both teams are fiercely competing for dominance.

However, an alarming issue has clouded the excitement: fans are struggling to access drinking water under the intense Pune heat.

IND vs NZ at Pune: Frustrated Fans Speak Out

Reports and social media reactions reveal that many fans faced serious challenges finding water on Day 1 of the Test. During the lunch break, a group of upset spectators staged a protest, chanting slogans like “MCA hume paani do, MCA hay hay,” demanding adequate facilities.

Criticism has poured in, targeting not only the MCA but also the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for failing to provide essential amenities for fans, who are crucial to the sport.

One fan on X (formerly Twitter) voiced frustration, saying, “Exposed to weather, stinky toilets, lack of drinking water, overpriced-yet-vile food, hostile cops – that people still go to stadiums speaks volumes of their love for the game. They deserve better from administrators in their cosy boxes.”

Another post added, “What is going on in #IndvsNZ? Strong rumours about no drinking water facility for fans in this scorching heat. Absolute shame MCA Pune. This isn’t a minor issue… @BCCI must address this.”

One particularly blunt comment aimed at the BCCI read, “No drinking water, no need for toilets. BCCI keeps it simple.”
