Lungisani True-man Ngidi was born on March 29, 1996, and has grown into one of South Africa’s most exciting fast bowlers. He plays for the South Africa national team and is currently part of the Delhi Capitals squad in IPL 2026.
Back in 2018, Ngidi was named one of the five Cricketers of the Year at the South African Cricket Annual Awards — a big moment for a young bowler still finding his feet at the international level. Two years later, in July 2020, he had an even better night at Cricket South Africa’s annual awards, walking away with both the ODI and T20I Cricketer of the Year titles. Not many players can say they won two awards in the same evening.
Lungi Ngidi Wife, Father, Mother, Sister, Brother
As far as anyone knows, Lungi is not in a relationship right now. He keeps his personal life very private and has not spoken publicly about a girlfriend or wife. His Instagram account, which is private, has around 348k followers.

Ngidi grew up in Kloof, Durban, in a household that did not have much money. His mother worked as a domestic worker, and his father held a job as a maintenance worker at a local school. Life was not easy, but Lungi’s talent with the ball was hard to ignore. It earned him a scholarship to Highbury Preparatory School, and later another one to Hilton College School — a door that changed everything for him. Sadly, Lungi’s father passed away not long ago.

When he first arrived at Hilton, Ngidi actually played rugby for the school. He was good at it too. But at some point he made up his mind that cricket was where he belonged, and he never looked back. At Hilton, he was coached by Neil Johnson, the former Zimbabwe all-rounder, who clearly saw something special in him.
After finishing school, Ngidi went on to study at the University of Pretoria, where he enrolled in a Bachelor of Social Sciences degree with a focus on Industrial Sociology. So yes, there is a lot more to Lungi Ngidi than just fast bowling.
