India is cruising through ICC ODI World Cup 2023 with six wins in a row. Men in Blue have alrqsy almost registered a place for themselves in the semi-final. However, Team India have often failed in the playoffs of World Cups. In 2019 Cricket World Cup India lost against New Zealand in the semi-final.
In 2022 T20 World Cup, India was defeated by England in a merciless manner. Hardik Pandya was the only player who shined through in that match with a half century that gave India something to defend. According to the latest reports, India is going to miss the services of ace all-rounder Hardik Pandya.
He suffered an injury during the match against Bangladesh and walked off in the middle of the game. Since then, Pandya has not played for India in World Cup 2023 and in his absence India was forced to leave out Shardul Thakur and include Mohammed Shami as the third pacer in the team.
Till now, the combination with Mohammed Shami and Suryakumar Yadav in the playing XI has worked well but on a bad day for their bowlers, India is definitely going to feel the need of Hardik Pandya. If Pandya is unable to recover then India could struggle in the semi-finals.
