In December 2017, Breetzke was named in South Africa’s squad for the 2018 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. He later joined the Cricket South Africa Emerging Squad in July 2018 and played for Eastern Province in the 2018 Africa T20 Cup. In 2019, he was part of the Nelson Mandela Bay Giants for the Mzansi Super League.
In April 2021, he was selected for South Africa’s Emerging Men’s squad for a Namibia tour and later joined Eastern Province for the 2021–22 season. On 5 February 2025, Breetzke made his ODI debut in the Pakistan Tri-Series, scoring 150 against New Zealand, becoming only the second player to score a maiden ODI century on debut after Amir Jangoo.
