The ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 marks the 13th edition of the prestigious 50-over tournament, scheduled to be hosted by India from October 5 to November 19. This edition holds particular significance as it’s the first time India will host the tournament independently, having co-hosted in 1987, 1996, and 2011. The tournament will feature 10 participating teams and will be spread across 12 venues in the country, including Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Chennai, Delhi, Dharamsala, Mumbai, Pune, Guwahati, and Thiruvananthapuram (hosting warm-up matches only).
Vaughan’s claim is based on his admiration for India’s stellar batting performance in the first ODI of the three-match series against the Australian National Cricket Team. At the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore, India, after losing the toss and opting to bat, posted a formidable total of 399/5. The highlight of the innings was a remarkable 200-run partnership between Shreyas Iyer and Shubman Gill, both of whom notched brilliant centuries.
Following their exceptional performance, Suryakumar Yadav added to the onslaught with a breathtaking 72 off just 37 balls. KL Rahul (52) and Ishan Kishan (31) contributed valuable runs, allowing India to set a daunting target for the Australians.
Impressed by India’s cricketing prowess, Michael Vaughan took to his official Twitter account to express his opinion. He believes that India boasts an exceptional batting lineup, especially on home turf, and their bowling attack appears well-balanced. Vaughan suggests that the only factor that could potentially hinder India’s success is the burden of expectation.
It’s quite clear to me .. Whoever beats #India will win the WC .. 👍 #INDvAUS .. India’s batting line up on Indian pitches is ridiculous .. Plus they have all the bowling options covered .. it’s the only the pressure of the burden that could stop them .. 👍
