In 2014, Shami tied the knot with Hasin Jahan, and they are proud parents of one child. However, in 2020, Shami opened up about the toll that injuries and allegations made by his wife had on his mental health. He bravely shared that he had contemplated suicide on three occasions but credited his family for their unwavering support during this challenging period.

In March 2018, Mohammed Shami and his family faced serious allegations lodged by his wife, Hasin Jahan, which included domestic violence and adultery. Additionally, a claim of rape was made against Shami’s elder brother. These accusations led to Shami being charged with various offenses, such as domestic violence, attempted murder, poisoning, and criminal intimidation.

Shami vehemently denied all of these allegations, asserting that they were part of a conspiracy intended to divert his focus from cricket. Consequently, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) excluded him from their national contracts list due to these charges. Furthermore, his wife also made claims of Shami’s involvement in match-fixing, prompting an investigation by the BCCI’s anti-corruption unit.

On March 22, the BCCI reinstated Shami’s national contract after clearing him of the corruption charges. However, on September 2, 2019, an arrest warrant was issued against Shami in connection to the domestic violence charges. He was given 15 days to turn himself in after his return to India. Subsequently, a district court stayed the warrant on September 9 because the issuing court failed to issue a summons for his appearance after filing the charge sheet.
