On October 26, 2020, Siraj was included in India’s Test squad for their series against Australia. Amid deliberations between Navdeep Saini and Siraj following Mohammad Shami’s injury, Siraj got the nod over Saini, marking his Test debut for India on December 26, 2020, against Australia. His maiden Test wicket came against Marnus Labuschagne. Notably, in January 2021, during the fourth Test against Australia, Siraj achieved his inaugural five-wicket haul in Test cricket.

Siraj commenced his first-class career on November 15, 2015, mentored by Karthik Udupa, representing Hyderabad in the 2015–16 Ranji Trophy tournament. His Twenty20 debut occurred on January 2, 2016, during the 2015–16 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
