Born on 12 October 1993 in Kakarkund, Gopalganj district, Bihar, Mukesh Kumar relocated to Kolkata in 2012, guided by his father who operated a taxi business in the city.
Kashi Nath Singh, the father of Mukesh Kumar died in 2019 due to brain hemorrhage. His mother Malti Devi encouraged him to continue cricket after the death of his father. Mukesh Kumar has four sisters and a brother named Dhanset.

Mukesh Kumar Carreer
Mukesh Kumar received his first call-up to the Indian cricket team in September 2022 for the ODI series against South Africa. In December 2022, he was selected for the Indian cricket team’s Twenty20 International (T20I) series against Sri Lanka. Later, in June 2023, he earned a spot in the Indian squad for all three formats during the West Indies tour.
Making his Test debut in the second Test on 20 July 2023 at Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain, Trinidad, Kumar impressed by taking his maiden Test wicket – that of Kirk McKenzie. He concluded the match with figures of 2/48 in the first innings and 0/5 in the second innings.

His ODI debut came in the first match of the series against West Indies on 27 July 2023 at Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados, where he secured his maiden ODI wicket – dismissing Alick Athanaze with figures of 1/22 from 5 overs.
Kumar made his T20I debut in the opening match of the series against West Indies on 3 August 2023 at Brian Lara Stadium, Tarouba, Trinidad.
