On Saturday (April 8) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, the Mumbai Indians (MI) will face the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 12th game of the IPL 2023. In their debut game, Mumbai were humiliated by the Royal Challengers Bangalore. While batting first, they scored 171 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs. Tilak Varma was instrumental with the bat for Mumbai, hitting 84 runs off 46 deliveries. Nehal Wadhera of Punjab scored 21 runs off 13 balls in his IPL debut. MI’s bowlers had little success as the Royal Challengers chased down the score with eight wickets in hand in 16.2 overs.
The Super Kings were defeated by the Gujarat Titans in their season opener. However, they recovered in the second game against the Lucknow Super Giants. While batting first, Chennai scored 217 runs for the cost of seven wickets in 20 overs. Ruturaj Gaikwad maintained his excellent batting form, scoring his second half-century of the season. Devon Conway also had a strong batting performance, scoring 47 runs off 29 balls. The Super Giants made a strong start to the chase but faltered in the middle. They came 12 runs shy of the goal. Moeen Ali took four wickets for 26 runs in four overs and was named Player of the Match.
