Najibullah Zadran’s cricketing journey has taken him to various leagues and teams. In June 2018, he was selected to play for the Montreal Tigers in the inaugural Global T20 Canada tournament. This marked the beginning of his presence in international T20 competitions. In September 2018, he was named in Kandahar’s squad for the first edition of the Afghanistan Premier League tournament, showcasing his domestic cricket talent. The following month, Zadran’s skills led him to be included in the squad for the Chittagong Vikings team during the 2018–19 Bangladesh Premier League.

In June 2019, he continued to shine in T20 cricket by representing the Winnipeg Hawks franchise team in the 2019 Global T20 Canada tournament. This further solidified his reputation as a valuable T20 player. In November 2019, he was selected to play for the Khulna Tigers in the 2019–20 Bangladesh Premier League, proving his prowess in various T20 leagues. Notably, in August 2020, he was named in the St Lucia Zouks squad for the 2020 Caribbean Premier League, filling in for Colin Ingram.

Zadran’s cricketing journey extended to different formats and teams. In April 2021, he was signed by Karachi Kings to participate in the rescheduled matches of the 2021 Pakistan Super League, adding to his experience in domestic leagues. In his earlier days, Zadran had a taste of international youth cricket when he represented Afghanistan Under-19s in the 2011 Under-19 World Cup Qualifier in Ireland. This laid the foundation for his cricketing career.

He made his Twenty20 debut for the Afghan Cheetahs in the Faysal Bank Twenty-20 Cup. In his early T20 appearances, he demonstrated his skills as both a batsman and bowler, even taking his maiden wicket while scoring notable runs.

In December 2018, he was named as the captain of Afghanistan’s under-23 team for the 2018 ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup, emphasizing his leadership qualities. In April 2019, he was included in Afghanistan’s 15-man squad for the 2019 Cricket World Cup, where he played a significant role. In July 2021, Zadran was appointed as the vice-captain of Afghanistan’s T20I team, reflecting his standing in the national squad. His consistent contributions and adaptability continued in September 2021 when he was named in Afghanistan’s squad for the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, representing his country in the international T20 arena.
