The Indian cricket team, under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, won the trophy by winning the final match of T20 World Cup 2024 against South Africa by 7 runs at Kensington Oval ground in Barbados on 29 June. In this entire tournament, the Indian team’s brilliant performance was seen in the group stage, Super 8 round and then the semi-finals. With this, the Indian team has done such a feat in the history of T20 World Cup which no team has been able to do before, in which they were successful in winning the trophy without losing any match. However, this is not the first time that Team India has won an ICC trophy undefeated, but they have done this feat before as well.
The 2013 Champions Trophy was also won undefeated
Team India won the Champions Trophy played in England in 2013 by winning all the matches under the captaincy of Mahendra Singh Dhoni. In the group stage of this ICC trophy, India defeated South Africa, West Indies and Pakistan, while they defeated Sri Lanka in the semi-finals. After this, in the final match, the Indian team won against host England by 5 runs. The West Indies and Australia teams are at the forefront in terms of winning the trophy the most number of times while remaining undefeated in ICC tournaments.
