Born on December 17, 1992, Quinton de Kock is a prominent South African cricketer who previously held the captaincy for the Proteas in all three cricket formats. Presently, he represents South Africa in limited-overs cricket, competes for the Titans in domestic competitions, and is a part of the Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League. His outstanding contributions to the sport earned him the prestigious Cricketer of the Year title at the Cricket South Africa’s 2017 Annual Awards.

Quinton de Kock, along with his university peers Neil McKenzie and Graeme Smith, all share the common educational background of graduating from the same university. In his earlier years, Quinton faced weight issues and earned the playful nickname “Tubby Taylor” from his friends, drawing inspiration from the former Australian cricketer Mark Taylor, whom he was named after.

Interestingly, his romantic journey with Sasha Hurly, a cheerleader, began when she congratulated him after a game, eventually leading to them dating through social media. Together they have a daughter named Kiara.

Quinton also holds a remarkable record, sharing the distinction for the fastest time to reach 1,000 runs in One-Day Internationals with cricket greats Vivian Richards, Kevin Pietersen, and Jonathan Trott. During the IPL 2022 mega auction, Lucknow Super Giants acquired Quinton for a substantial sum of INR 6.75 crore (67.5 million). Additionally, he considers senior cricketer Neil McKenzie as one of his role models.
