Former Indian spinner, who has represented the national team in international cricket, has rubbished the logic of former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan who stated that bowling fast helps a spinner. Pathan had said that this is the reason behind the success of Indian spinner Kuldeep Yadav.
According to the former spinner, “increasing the pace of delivery does not provide any advantage to a spinner. In fact, it can hinder their performance. The goal of a spinner is to vary the flight, pace, and trajectory of the ball to deceive the batter. However, bowling fast only makes it simpler for the batter to recognize and hit the ball,” he said.
He went on to say “Kuldeep Yadav’s success is due to his proficiency in using various variations and tricking the batter with his wrist spin technique. It is his talent and not the speed of his bowling that has brought him success,”
Kuldeep Yadav, a left-arm chinaman bowler, has been a key player for India in the limited-overs format. He made his international debut in 2017 and has since taken over 160 wickets in ODIs and T20Is. He is known for his ability to bowl with different variations and deceive the batter with his wrist spin.
The former Indian spinner’s comments came after Irfan Pathan said that Kuldeep Yadav’s success is due to his ability to bowl fast. Pathan had said, “Kuldeep Yadav is a chinaman bowler, but he bowls at a very accurate pace. That’s the reason why he’s been successful. He bowls at a fast pace, and that’s the reason why he’s been able to take wickets.”
