Roger Binny, a former Indian cricketer who was a member of the Indian World Cup-winning side in 1983 is the frontrunner to replace Saurav Ganguly as BCCI chief. The recent reports claim that the former Indian cricketer has been approached by the BCCI officials to handle the reigns of the board after Ganguly’s term comes to an end.
Roger Binny has previously been part of the set-up of the BCCI selection committee. His name appeared on the BCCI’s Draft Electoral Rolls (put up on the BCCI website) for the October 18 elections and the Annual General Meeting as a representative of the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) on 6th October instead of KSCA secretary Santosh Menon.
The former Indian seamer is likely to replace Saurav Ganguly as the BCCI president on 18th October 2022 while Jay Shah is expected to continue as the BCCI secretary. On the other Saurav Ganguly is expected to get a much bigger role. The reports claim that he will be India’s new representative at the International Cricket Council.
Ganguly is likely to get the responsibilities of the Chief Indian representative at the ICC. It’s almost confirmed that he will vacate his position as the BCCI chief on 18th October 2022 and an election is going to be held to fill his position. The nominations for the same can be filed on the 11th and 12th of October and one can revoke his nomination before the 14th of October 2022. The election will happen on 18th October 2022. As of now, Roger Binny is likely to be the new BCCI president.
