Rohit Sharma, born on April 30, 1987, is a prominent Indian cricketer who currently leads the Indian national cricket team across all formats. Renowned as one of the finest batsmen of his era and hailed as one of the greatest opening batters in history, Sharma possesses exceptional timing, elegance, proficiency in hitting sixes, and remarkable leadership qualities. He holds numerous batting records, notably for achieving the most double centuries in ODI cricket (3), the most centuries in Cricket World Cups (7), and the most hundreds in Twenty20 Internationals (5). During Sachin Tendulkar’s farewell series in November 2013, Rohit Sharma made his Test debut at Eden Gardens in Kolkata against West Indies, scoring 177 runs, which stood as the second-highest score on debut by an Indian after Shikhar Dhawan’s 187. In the following Test at his home ground, the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, he remained unbeaten with 111 runs.
After being out of the Test team since 2017–18, Sharma earned a recall for the 2018–19 tour of Australia due to his suitability to the bouncy Australian pitches. Despite sustaining a minor injury during the first Test in Adelaide, he returned for the Boxing Day third Test at Melbourne and contributed with an unbeaten 63 runs in India’s victory.

Rohit Sharma Youth & Domestic First Class Career
Rohit Sharma made his List A debut for West Zone against Central Zone in the Deodhar Trophy at Gwalior in March 2005. Despite batting at number eight, he contributed an unbeaten 31 runs as West Zone secured victory by 3 wickets with 24 balls to spare. Noteworthy debutants in the same match were Cheteshwar Pujara and Ravindra Jadeja. However, it was Sharma’s exceptional innings of 142 not out off 123 balls against North Zone at the Maharanna Bhupal College Ground in Udaipur during the same tournament that propelled him into the spotlight.
Subsequently, Sharma represented India A on tours to Abu Dhabi and Australia before being named in India’s 30-member probable squad for the ICC Champions Trophy tournament, although he didn’t make the final squad.
Sharma’s first-class debut for India A came against New Zealand A at Darwin in July 2006, where he contributed scores of 57 and 22 in a victory for India.
