Scheduled to be held in China from September 23 to October 8, the Asian Games 2023 will coincide with the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023. To accommodate this clash, the men’s cricket competition at the Asian Games will adopt a T20 format and will run from September 28 to October 8.

As a result, the BCCI has decided to field a second-string side for the tournament, with many regular players being part of the World Cup squad. The selected players will have an opportunity to showcase their skills on the international stage.

Ruturaj Gaikwad, who leads Maharashtra in domestic cricket, will lead the young Indian squad at the Asian Games 2023. The 26-year-old has been a consistent performer in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the Chennai Super Kings, captained by MS Dhoni.

Joining Gaikwad in the squad are Rinku Singh and Tilak Varma, who missed out on selection for the West Indies tour. The team’s wicketkeeper-batters include Jitesh Sharma from Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Prabhsimran Singh.

The pace department comprises Avesh Khan, Arshdeep Singh, Mukesh Kumar, and Shivam Mavi. In the spin-bowling department, India has Washington Sundar, Shahbaz Ahmed, and Ravi Bishnoi.
