The first semi-final match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 between South Africa and Afghanistan will be played on 27th June at 6:00 AM Indian Standard Time. This match will take place at Brian Lara Stadium in Trinidad. The Brian Lara Stadium has seen teams struggling to score high runs, with only one match (Sri Lanka vs Netherlands) so far surpassing the 200-run mark in this tournament. Pace bowlers and spinners tend to benefit on this pitch. Therefore, the team winning the toss is likely to choose to bat first and aim for a high score on the scoreboard. It is expected that batsmen will aim to set a big score in the first semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2024.

In the last match at Brian Lara Stadium in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, Papua New Guinea played against New Zealand, where New Zealand won the toss and chose to bowl first. PNG could only manage 78 runs in their allotted 20 overs. In response, New Zealand chased down the target in 12.2 overs with 7 wickets remaining, with Lockie Ferguson taking 3 wickets in the match.
