Salman Butt, former Pakistan captain criticized India’s think-tank for their treatment of Ishan Kishan, despite his impressive performances. India secured a 2-1 victory against the West Indies in the ODI series, during which Ishan Kishan notched three fifties. However, Butt believes that the team management hasn’t given him enough opportunities.
Butt expressed his confusion over India’s handling of Ishan, noting that he was dropped after scoring a double century. He criticized the management for seemingly relegating him to a second-choice player, regardless of his performances. According to Butt, even if Ishan were to score 1000 runs in a single innings, he believes the team would still view him as the second option, which could impact his confidence and sense of being the best player.

In Butt’s view, this approach creates a perception that no matter how well Ishan performs, he will not be regarded as the first-choice player and may not receive the deserved recognition and rewards for his contributions to the team. As the Asia Cup 2023 approaches, it is likely that Ishan Kishan will be dropped from the playing XI, with Rohit Sharma returning to open alongside Shubman Gill.
