Scott Andrew Edwards, born on August 23, 1996, is a cricketer holding both Australian and Dutch citizenship, and he proudly represents the Netherlands in international cricket. His cricket journey began with his first-class debut for the Netherlands against Namibia in the 2015–17 ICC Intercontinental Cup on November 29, 2017, and he also made his List A debut for the Netherlands against Namibia in the 2015–17 ICC World Cricket League Championship on December 8, 2017.
In a significant turn of events for Dutch cricket, Edwards assumed the role of captain for the Dutch cricket team in June 2022. This appointment followed Pieter Seelaar’s retirement from international cricket due to a persistent back injury. Edwards now holds the distinction of being the seventh ODI captain for the Netherlands.

Scott Andrew Edwards was born in Tonga while his father was working there, but he spent his formative years in Australia and attended Emmaus College. His eligibility to represent the Netherlands stems from his Dutch grandmother, and he proudly holds dual citizenship in both Australia and the Netherlands.
During his time in Australia, he played club cricket for teams like Richmond in Victorian Premier Cricket, Blackburn South Cricket Club, and Highton Cricket Club. In the Dutch club cricket scene, he’s a member of Excelsior ’20. Notably, Edwards formed a close association with former Australian wicket-keeper Ryan Campbell, who later assumed the role of head coach for the Netherlands Cricket Team in 2017.

Before embarking on his professional cricket career, Edwards worked as an electrical apprentice. Reflecting on his journey, he remarked, “It was pretty surreal to be honest, was going about life as an apprentice and then all of a sudden you’re playing international cricket coming up against Chris Gayle and Evin Lewis — it was pretty exciting.”
In July 2019, Edwards was selected to represent the Rotterdam Rhinos in the inaugural edition of the Euro T20 Slam cricket tournament. However, the tournament faced cancellation the following month.
