Shaheen Shah Afridi, born on 6 April 2000, is a highly acclaimed Pakistani international cricketer who showcases his skills for the Pakistan cricket team in various formats. Recognized as one of the world’s premier bowlers, he also assumes the role of captain for the Lahore Qalandars in the PSL. Under his astute leadership, Lahore Qalandars achieved a historic milestone by clinching their first PSL title in the 2022 season and went on to achieve another triumph in the 2023 season, setting a remarkable precedent as the first team in PSL history to successfully defend their title. Additionally, Shaheen Shah Afridi holds the distinction of being the first Pakistani to secure the Garfield Sobers trophy, a testament to his exceptional cricketing prowess.

Afridi hails from the Zakhakhel Afridi tribe, a part of the Pashtun community. His upbringing took place in Landi Kotal, a town situated in the Khyber District of Pakistan, adjacent to the Afghanistan border. Among his siblings, he is the youngest of seven brothers, with his eldest brother, Riaz Afridi, boasting a cricketing legacy with a solitary Test match for Pakistan in 2004, despite a 15-year age gap between them. Furthermore, his cousin Yasir Afridi has made a name for himself as a professional footballer who has proudly represented the Pakistan national football team.
In March 2021, Afridi celebrated his engagement to Ansha Afridi, the daughter of cricket legend Shahid Afridi.
Notably, in July 2022, Afridi was honored with the rank of an honorary Deputy Superintendent of the Police (DSP) within the KPK Police, assuming the role of a goodwill ambassador.
Afridi’s talents extend beyond the cricket pitch, as in January 2023, it was unveiled that he would be the creative mind behind the design of Lahore Qalandars’ new kits for the 2023 PSL season.
On 3 February 2023, he entered marital bliss with Ansha Afridi in a private nikah ceremony.
