As the month-long break for the Indian cricket team comes to an end, the focus has shifted to the upcoming bilateral series, Asia Cup, and ICC World Cup 2023. The Indian management is working hard to ensure the fitness of their players, as several key stars are recovering from injuries and racing against time to be fit for the World Cup, which is just three months away. Key players like Shreyas Iyer, Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant, and KL Rahul are out of action for an extended period.
In a significant setback, a top BCCI official has revealed that Shreyas Iyer might miss the upcoming World Cup due to his back injury. The 28-year-old has been dealing with back issues since February and has missed several series before undergoing surgery in London, which also ruled him out of the IPL.
Despite a successful surgery, there have been reports that Iyer experienced slight pain during his rehabilitation at the NCA and received injections to manage it. “While we are hopeful that Iyer recovers in time for the World Cup, his progress has been slow. It is not certain at this moment,” stated the BCCI official.

The Indian team will closely monitor the fitness of these players as they strive to assemble a strong and competitive squad for the highly anticipated World Cup. The Indian cricket fans will be hoping to see their favourite players back on field after a long period of time.
