Shreyas Iyer Test Career
On 25 November 2021, Shreyas Iyer received his Test cap from the legendary Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar before going on to score a remarkable century in his debut match against the New Zealand team. This achievement made him the 16th Indian player to achieve a century in their debut Test match.
In March 2022, Iyer’s exceptional performance on a challenging turning track during the second Test match against Sri Lanka earned him the title of Man of the Match for his crucial fifties. His consistent form led to him being recognized as the ICC Player of the Month for February 2022.
However, in January 2023, following the Sri Lanka series, Iyer was sidelined from the New Zealand series due to a back injury. Although he made a comeback during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and played in the second Test, his participation was short-lived as he once again experienced back pain during the fourth Test in Ahmedabad. This led to his withdrawal from the series, and he subsequently underwent back surgery in England in April.

Making his List A debut for Mumbai in November 2014, during the 2014–15 Vijay Hazare Trophy, Iyer made a significant impact by accumulating 273 runs in the tournament at an average of 54.60. Subsequently, he embarked on his first-class cricket journey in December 2014, participating in the 2014–15 Ranji Trophy. Throughout his debut Ranji season, Iyer amassed a total of 809 runs at an impressive average of 50.56, showcasing his talent with two centuries and six fifties. He ranked as the seventh highest scorer in the 2014–15 Ranji Trophy season.
