Head coach Rahul Dravid approached Gill about taking on this new role, and Gill happily agreed, citing his previous experience batting at this position in domestic cricket.
“I have batted at the No. 3 position in the past, so I am comfortable with it. Our coach asked me about my preferred batting position, and I mentioned the No. 3 slot,” he stated.
When asked about replacing legendary players like Dravid and Cheteshwar Pujara, Gill chose not to comment directly.
