The cricket world is buzzing about Shubman Gill’s incredible hundred in the third T20I against New Zealand, and India’s 2007 World Cup-winning all-rounder Irfan Pathan is among the many impressed by the 23-year-old batter’s performance.
“Sensational in white-ball cricket, and a future leader,” says Pathan of Gill. With his 63-ball 126 not out, laced with 12 fours and 7 sixes, he led India to a 168-run victory and clinched the series 2-1.
Pathan has no doubt that Gill is the next Virat Kohli and the future captain of Team India. “He will prove himself in the Test format as well,” says the former India player.
The Narendra Modi Stadium saw Hardik Pandya’s team post a blazing 234/4 in 20 overs, and the Kiwis were bowled out for just 66 runs, with Hardik taking 4 wickets and Arshdeep Singh, Shivam Mavi, and Umram Malik dismissing two batters each.
With such high praise from one of India’s greatest cricketers, the world can expect big things from the young sensation Shubman Gill in the future.
