Sitanshu Kotak Takes Charge as Interim Head Coach for IND vs IRE T20 Series instead of VVS Laxman

In the upcoming IND vs IRE T20 series, it will be Sitanshu Kotak, the India A coach and NCA’s batting coach, who will assume the role of head coach for Jasprit Bumrah & Co. VVS Laxman, who was initially slated to guide the team, will be overseeing the Emerging camp at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru, necessitating Kotak’s temporary leadership. The three-match T20 series against Ireland is scheduled to commence on August 18.

Sitanshu Kotak Takes Charge as Interim Head Coach for IND vs IRE T20 Series instead of VVS Laxman

Sitanshu Kotak, who currently holds the positions of India A head coach and batting coach at the NCA, brings a wealth of cricketing experience. His remarkable domestic career, featuring over 8000 runs in First Class and 3000 runs in List A cricket, highlights his prowess as a player. Taking over as the India A coach in 2019 when Rahul Dravid assumed the role of NCA head, Kotak’s coaching prowess has been witnessed during India’s tours of New Zealand and Ireland.

The coaching transition comes as part of a broader plan, with the India squad leaving for the IND vs IRE series in separate batches. The first batch, including skipper Jasprit Bumrah and players not participating in the IND vs WI series, departs from Mumbai for Ireland on Tuesday. The second batch, comprised of players like Sanju Samson, Tilak Varma, and Yashasvi Jaiswal, will fly directly from Florida to Dublin. This second group, engaged in the final two T20s against West Indies in Florida, is scheduled to participate in the Ireland series as well.
