Sunil Gavaskar did not hold back his criticism of the Indian batsmen following their collapse in the World Test Championship final. Despite a strong performance by Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane on Day 4, the final day proved to be a disappointing start for the Indian team. Kohli and Rahane were both dismissed playing shots at deliveries pitched outside the off-stump.

Earlier during the fourth innings, captain Rohit Sharma and Cheteshwar Pujara also failed to value their wickets and were sent back to the pavilion with a score of 43 and 27 runs. While Virat Kohli scored 49 runs and Ajinkya Rahane got out after scoring 46 runs.

Gavaskar expressed his frustration, stating, “Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ajinkya Rahane seemed to be focused on their personal milestones. I’ve noticed that Indian players tend to play careless shots when they are approaching landmarks. While scoring a fifty is important, you can’t sacrifice wickets just for the sake of individual records.”

In their pursuit of a target of 444 runs, Rohit Sharma’s team made a series of mistakes on the final day of the crucial final.
