Ahead of IPL 2024, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) has made strategic moves by releasing six players, including the noteworthy exit of Harry Brook from the 2023 Auction. The team traded Mayank Dagar to Royal Challengers Bangalore for Shahbaz Ahmed in a like-for-like swap, maintaining balance in their squad.
With a spending capacity of INR 34 Crores and the ability to incorporate up to six players, including three foreigners, SRH is focusing on stability over a radical shuffle at the auction table. The bowling unit remains stable, with a strong pace contingent featuring Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Umran Malik, Fazalhaq Faaroqi, and T. Natarajan. Spin options Mayank Markande and Washington Sundar add depth to the squad.

As SRH looks forward to the auction, their primary focus lies in securing overseas talent. A replacement for Harry Brook and the acquisition of at least one specialist spinner are key objectives, addressing the void left by the departures of Akeal Hossein and Adil Rashid. They could buy Harry Brook again and also bid on Pat Cummins and Mujeeb Ur Rahman.
