Suryakumar Yadav’s father Ashok Kumar Yadav is the chief engineer at the Bhabha Atomic Research Center (Mumbai).
Surya received his initial education at the Atomic Energy Central School in Mumbai. He later pursued intermediate studies at the Atomic Energy Junior College, also in Mumbai. He obtained a B.Com degree from the Pillai College of Arts, Commerce, and Science, Mumbai, where he crossed paths with his future wife, Devisha Shetty, who worked as a dance coach.
In his early sports exploration, Surya initially found interest in both badminton and cricket. However, upon his father’s advice, he decided to dedicate himself to a single sport, ultimately choosing cricket. His first cricket coach was his paternal uncle, Vinod Kumar Yadav, who began training him at the Dr. Sampurnanand Sports Stadium in Sigra, Varanasi.
At the age of 10, Surya’s family had to relocate, which led to a positive new chapter in his journey. Recognizing Surya’s passion for cricket, his father enrolled him in a cricket camp at the BARC colony in Mumbai, where Ashok Kamat took on the role of his coach.
