T20 World Cup 2022-New Zealand becomes the first team to qualify for T20 World Cup Semi-Final

In the ongoing World Cup, New Zealand becomes the first team to qualify for the semis in the Group of Death. Now, one of the teams from Sri Lanka, Australia, and England will join New Zealand for the semi’s spot.

In a group game between New Zealand and Ireland, the former team won by 35 runs at Adelaide Oval which leads them to the top of the table with a healthy run rate of +2.113.

New Zealand started their campaign extremely well when they defeated defending champions Australia by 89 runs which put them in the driver’s seat and they never looked back, Kiwi’s then did manage to register a win by 65 runs against Sri Lanka, and the Afghanistan match was washed out by rain. They were only defeated by England in the group stage by 20 runs.,

Irish bowler Joshua Little took a hat-trick which restricted New Zealand to 185-6 in which captain Kane Williamson managed to get back in form in the right time and scored 61 off 35, other side Ireland only managed to score 150-9.

New Zealand sealed their spot as Australia needed to defeat Afghanistan by 185 runs to move ahead of NZ’s net run rate as they only managed to score 168-8 in a later game, although they won the game by 4 runs in a thrilling last over match. New Zealand can only finish in the second spot if England defeats Sri Lanka by a good margin.

New Zealand is always known for its underdog performances in big ICC tournaments. They beat England by 5 wickets in T20 World Cup 2021 in UAE but later on got defeated by Australia in the finals by 8 wickets. This is gonna be their fourth appearance in the T20 semis and hopefully, they lift the T20 World cup in this edition.
