    The Hong Kong Cricket Sixes is back after a six-year hiatus, set to take place from November 1 to 3 at the Tin Kwong Road Cricket Ground. This year, 12 nations will compete in thrilling six-a-side matches.

    Teams will be organized into four groups of three and will play in a round-robin format. The top two teams in each group will progress to the quarterfinals. Winners of the quarterfinals will advance to the Cup semifinals, while the losing teams will compete in the Plate semifinals.

    Teams finishing last in their groups will play in the Bowl Competition. Additionally, a Women’s Exhibition Match is scheduled for the final day to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China.

    The Hong Kong Cricket Sixes is making a comeback after a seven-year hiatus, and Team India is among the 12 participating teams in the tournament. On Saturday, Cricket Hong Kong, China, announced the Indian squad for the upcoming 6-a-side competition.

    The 7-member team will be captained by former Indian batsman Robin Uthappa. The squad also includes Bharat Chipli, Kedar Jadhav, Manoj Tiwary, Shahbaz Nadeem, Shreevats Goswami, and Stuart Binny.

    Under Uthappa’s leadership, the Indian team aims to harness their collective experience and talent to clinch the title at the Hong Kong Cricket Sixes 2024. With a blend of explosive batting, strategic bowling, and exceptional fielding, they are poised to entertain fans and compete for the championship. India last won the HK Sixes in the 2005 edition.

    When Did It Start?
    The Hong Kong Sixes began in 1992 and ran annually until 1997. After a four-year hiatus, it returned in 2001, continuing until 2012. The tournament was last held in 2017, and now, after a seven-year break, it is making its comeback.

    Hong Kong Sixes Format:

    1. Each match consists of two teams of six players, with a maximum of five overs per side. In the final match, teams will bowl 5 overs, each containing 8 balls, rather than the usual 6.
    2. All fielders, excluding the wicketkeeper, must bowl one over. Additionally, any wides or no-balls will incur a penalty of two runs.
    3. If a team loses five wickets before completing their 5 overs, the last batter will continue while the fifth player acts as a runner. The not-out batter must face all deliveries, and the innings ends when he is dismissed.
    4. Batters must retire upon reaching 31 runs but can return to the crease if all other batsmen are either out or have retired.
    5. Teams earn two points for a win.
