  • WTC 23 Points Table: Latest Rankings after ENG vs NZ and WI vs BAN

WTC 23 Points Table has undergone a few changes after England whitewashed New Zealand in the Test series and Bangladesh was whitewashed by West Indies. Current World Test Champions New Zealand is now at 7th position in the points table while England is still positioned at number 8th spot due to a horrible season in 2021. On the other hand, Bangladesh has started to lose the plot after their huge victory against New Zealand in a Test. They have lost badly against West Indies to slip to the 9th position in the WTC 23 points table.

As you can see, Australia has maintained their number one position in the points table. Australia is followed by South Africa at number two and India at number three. Sri Lanka is currently residing in the fourth position in the points table.

Australia and Sri Lanka are soon going to play a Test series which can change the whole complexion of the points table if Sri Lanka somehow magically defeats the giants of the cricketing world.

India will also have a chance to improve its position in the points table when the Indian team lock horns against England on July 1. Most likely, the outcome of the match won’t make any difference to India’s current position in the WTC 23 points table. However, it can have a huge impact in the longer term.

In July Pakistan cricket team will tour Sri Lanka for a Test series, while South Africa will tour England for a Test series in August. South Africa vs England will be the last test series before the T20 World Cup begins in October.

  • Women’s CWC 2022: Windies defeated Bangladesh by 4 Runs in Thriller

West Indies Women defeated Bangladesh Women in a last-over thriller by 4 runs at Bay Oval stadium in New Zealand.

West Indies Women defended 7 runs in the final over against the last Bangladeshi batting pair. Stafanie Taylor, the skipper for West Indies, found the gap between bat and pad of Fariha Trisna on the 3rd ball of the last over of Bangladeshi Innings to win the third match for her side at Women’s World Cup 2022.

West Indies have climbed up to the third position at the points table with three thrilling wins at the tournament, while Bangladesh sits awkwardly at 7th position with only one win in four matches so far.

Here’s how the match panned out

Earlier in the day, Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bowl first. They performed exceptionally well with the ball to restrict West Indies Women at 140/9 in 50 overs.

Shemaine Campbelle played an innings of substance on a challenging track to somehow take West Indies to 140. She scored a vital unbeaten 53* runs for the Caribbeans. For Bangladesh, Salma Khatun and Nahida Akhter each took two wickets.

Chasing the total, Bangladesh never looked settled as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Nahida Akhter played a valuable knock of 25* not out, but it was not enough for Bangladesh to win the game. Hayley Mathews dismissed 4 of the Bangladesh batters to be crowned the player of the match. Afy Fletcher and Stafanie Taylor each picked up three wickets to deter the Bangladeshi innings.

    What’s Next

West Indies Women will play their next match at Seddon Park, Hamilton, on 21st March against Pakistan Women, and will look to carry on their winning momentum. On the other hand, Bangladesh Women will face India at the same venue on 22nd March.
