Team India who were already leading the 3 match ODI series against NZ by 2-0 played their final ODI on Tuesday at the Holkar Stadium, Indore.
NZ won the toss and decided to bowl first.
The heroes of Team India’s innings were Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill. Rohit Sharma announced his form with a power-packed innings of 101 runs, whereas Shubman Gill played a brilliant knock of 112 runs. Hardik Pandya played a quick 54 runs knock at the end to take India’s score to 385 runs at the loss of 9 wickets after 50 overs.
NZ’s attacking opener Finn Allen failed to show his dominance as he returned for a duck. However, Devon Conway didn’t let the batting order collapse and played an extraordinary knock of 138 runs before giving his wicket to Umran Malik. After Conway, it was only Henry Nicholls who played an impactful inning. He scored 42 runs from 40 balls. Bracewell and Santner tried to finish the game in NZ’s favor, however both of them returned for 26 and 34 runs respectively and NZ lost the match by 90 runs.
With this win, Team India now has reached the number 1 position in the latest ICC ODI rankings.
Team India’s next assignment will be to play against Australia in a 4-match Test series and a 3-match ODI series starting from 9 February and 17 March respectively.
