Former South African captain AB de Villiers has revealed that Virat Kohli didn’t speak to him for several months. The reason? Kohli was reportedly upset after de Villiers accidentally revealed Anushka Sharma’s pregnancy. Last year, Kohli and his wife Anushka Sharma welcomed their second child, but before the official announcement, de Villiers had already revealed the news that Kohli was expecting again.
“I’m Glad He’s Talking to Me Again”
In a conversation with Cricket.com, de Villiers said:
“He has been in touch with me over the last six months, thank God! Because when they were expecting their second child, I got a bit too close. When he started talking to me again, it was a relief.”
Kohli had missed India’s home Test series against England last year citing personal reasons, which led to a lot of speculation. In an effort to defend him, de Villiers had shared on his YouTube channel that Kohli and Anushka were expecting their second child. This statement quickly went viral and reportedly upset Kohli.

De Villiers on Kohli’s Possible Retirement from Tests
De Villiers also addressed the speculations about Kohli retiring from Test cricket. He said:
“You’ve got to follow your heart. He followed his gut feeling. He has given a lot to cricket. Luckily, we’ll still get to see him on the field.”
