On May 8, the BCCI abruptly halted the IPL match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals due to rising tensions between India and Pakistan. In light of the situation, the tournament was suspended for a week. However, the IPL is expected to resume soon. As per reports, BCCI may soon announce a revised schedule for the remaining matches. Meanwhile, most foreign players have returned to their home countries, and one major overseas star is unlikely to come back.
This Foreign Player Might Not Return to India!
Before the IPL 2025 resumes, Delhi Capitals may suffer a major blow. According to reports, Australia’s fast bowler Mitchell Starc is unlikely to return to India for the remaining matches. As per Australian media outlet Channel 9, Starc and his wife landed in Sydney from Singapore on Sunday. During this time, his manager hinted that the star pacer may not come back to India if the tournament resumes.
Mitchell Starc has been one of Delhi Capitals’ key bowlers this season. He has played 12 matches so far and taken 14 wickets, with an economy rate of 10.23. He even picked up a 5-wicket haul in one match. Delhi Capitals still have four matches left in the league stage, and one game was halted midway. With 13 points, the team is currently in 5th place on the points table and is very close to qualifying for the playoffs. Starc’s absence, however, could create problems for the team.

World Test Championship Final a Key Reason
The final of the World Test Championship 2023-25 is scheduled to take place from June 11 at Lord’s, between South Africa and Australia. This high-stakes match could be a major reason why Starc may skip the remaining IPL fixtures. He may prioritize red-ball cricket and begin preparations for the WTC Final. It’s worth noting that Starc has previously skipped multiple IPL seasons to be available for the Australian national team.
