Royal Challengers Bangalore were knocked out of IPL 2023 due to a Shubman Gill masterclass at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The high stakes match was all about the class batting of Indian maestro Virat Kohli and the future superstar Shubman Gill.
RCB lost the toss and was invited to bat first. Virat Kohli scored a brilliant hundred and remained unbeaten on 101* off 61 to help RCB post 197 on the board. Kohli was class apart and his fantastic knock was applauded by almost everyone.
Shubman Gill followed in the footsteps of his idol and scored an unbeaten 104* off 52 to help GT win the game. Former Australian cricketer Tom Moody has rates Gill’s innings above Kohli’s.

While speaking with ESPN Cricinfo, Tom Moody compared Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli’s knock by saying this- “He is such a delight to watch. He is so composed at the crease. You look at his facial expression and his body language, he looks so much in control. He has got the game. Eight sixes! That was the difference in the two hundreds. Both were brilliant hundreds. But Kohli only hit one six. Gill hit eight of them and was batting at a strike rate of 200. That’s a significant difference. And that coming in a chase, hats off to him.”
