West Indies will try to make the most of the three-match One-Day International series against UAE before the World Cup Qualifier in Zimbabwe. The first One-Day International (ODI) between the West Indies and the UAE will be played on Sunday at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
In the 10-team World Cup qualifier, the West Indies have been assigned to Group A. Group A also includes Zimbabwe, the Netherlands, Nepal, and the United States. Former West Indies captains Floyd Reifer and Carl Hooper will serve as the national team’s assistant coaches during the 50-over series against the UAE.
Daren Sammy, the West Indies’ new white-ball head coach, will oversee their operations. In contrast, ex-New Zealand all-rounder James Franklin has joined the team management as an assistant coach. West Indies will feature in the ODI series against UAE under the captaincy of Shai Hope.
Meanwhile, Muhammad Waseem will captain the UAE cricket team in the three-match ODI series against Caribbean opponents. UAE will enter the ODI series after a four-wicket defeat to South Africa.
