VCA Stadium, Nagpur Pitch Report for IND vs AUS 1st Test Match

The pacers will get some assistance on the pitch in the first three days of the Test match.

VCA Stadium in Nagpur is going to hold the first Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia. The match is officially scheduled to begin on 9th February 2023. All the preparations are being made at the VCA Stadium to prepare a pitch that has been demanded by the Indian cricket team management.

It was recently reported that Indian cricket team coach Rahul Dravid and captain Rohit Sharma had demanded the curators of VCA Stadium to prepare a pitch that is not a rank turner. Instead, India wants to compete on the same level as Australia by providing a balanced pitch that will support both pace and spin.

The demand has been made due to Indian batters also struggling against the spin. The pitch at VCA Stadium is going to favour both the batters and bowlers. We will most likely see an even contest between the bat and the ball.

VCA Stadium, Nagpur Test Pitch Report for India vs Australia Test

VCA Stadium pitch will be the best for batters on the first two days. The pacers will get some assistance on the pitch in the first three days of the Test match. However, from the third day onwards, spin bowling will also leave a great mark in the match. The team that bats first should look to score in excess of 300 runs to put pressure on the opponent.

VCA Stadium pitch is going to behave in a typical Test pitch manner. It will deteriorate with time, and you can expect the likes of Nathan Lyon, R Ashwin and Jadeja to take a lot of wickets in the last two days of the Test match. The team which wins the toss can secure a great advantage by batting first in the 1st Test.

If the team batting first scores more than 300 runs in the 1st inning and the opponent will find themselves struggling in the Test match. Overall, it is going to be a pitch that will produce competitive cricket.
