Virat Kohli, the Indian cricket team’s prolific batsman, recently shared an intriguing perspective on his 71st international century, which he scored against Afghanistan in the 2022 Asia Cup after a two-year drought. During an interview for Puma’s “Let There Be Sport” show, Kohli revealed that he shouldn’t have been “cribbing” about the hundred as much as he personally did, and that the euphoria of his hundred only lasted two seconds.
Kohli admitted that he had gone through a rough patch for much of 2022, which eventually led to him taking a month off in August-September. When he returned, he not only returned as a better batsman but also ended his century drought. The 34-year-old emphasized the main lesson he learned from finally scoring another ton for the nation, which is not to let the game get the better of him.

During the interview, Kohli also recalled the moment he broke his century drought against Afghanistan, saying that the feeling of euphoria only lasted for two seconds. “The ball before I got to the 100, is the time I felt, oh I am on 94, I could probably get this. And the next ball went for six. But the thing is that as soon as I go the 100, I laughed so hard. I was like, ‘main iske liye ro raha tha 2 saal se? (Was I cribbing about this for 2 years?),” Kohli said.
The Indian skipper’s comments have been widely praised by fans and cricket pundits alike, who have been impressed by his honesty and humility. Kohli currently has 46 ODI hundreds and is only three centuries away from matching his idol Sachin Tendulkar’s tally of 49 hundred. As one of the greatest batsmen of his generation, Kohli’s achievements on the cricket field are nothing short of remarkable, and his latest revelation is sure to inspire and motivate fans around the world.
