The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made the decision to rest Rahul Dravid for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Ireland. As a result, VVS Laxman, the head of the National Cricket Academy will step in and coach the Indian cricket team for the tour.
According to reports, VVS Laxman will replace Rahul Dravid as the head coach for the India National Cricket Team’s tour of Ireland. The team is scheduled to play a short three-match T20I series in Dublin at the Malahide on August 18, 20, and 23.
Following the ongoing tour of West Indies, Rahul Dravid and the other members of the coaching staff will not be accompanying the national team to Ireland. This includes batting coach Vikram Rathour, bowling coach Paras Mhambrey, and fielding coach T Dilip, who will also take a break.
To manage the workload of the coaching staff ahead of important events such as the Asia Cup and the ICC World Cup 2023, the BCCI has decided to rest them for the Ireland tour. Sitanshu Kotak and Hrishikesh Kanitkar are likely to be part of the coaching staff for the Ireland series, focusing on batting, while Troy Cooley and Sairaj Bahutule will provide their expertise in bowling.
