The Border Gavaskar Trophy started with the right spirit despite all the heated debate between the former cricketers and the media of both countries regarding the Nagpur pitch where the 1st Test match is taking place.

However, a very delightful incident took place during the Australian innings in which Kohli can be seen putting his arms around Smith and having a light chat.

This incident took place in the 14th over of the Australian innings. Axar completed another maiden over. It was during the change of ends when Kohli, who was standing at the first slip, put his arms around Smith and had a light chat.

Notably, this is not the first time Kohli and Smith shared a light moment on the field. Kohli, being the Indian captain at that time, stood up for Smith during the 2019 ODI World Cup when the crowd was booing him in the India vs Australia group stage match.
