West Indies out of the T20 World Cup 2024 after losing to South Africa

The host country has not won T20 World Cup yet and West Indies continues this unwanted tradition in the T20 World Cup 2024.

An important match was played between South Africa and West Indies in the Super 8 of T20 World Cup 2024. In this match, South Africa defeated West Indies. With the defeat, West Indies were out of the tournament. This was a big setback for West Indies. At the beginning of the tournament, it was being seen as the champion. Its game was also excellent but due to poor batting against South Africa, it had to face defeat. In the match against South Africa, West Indies scored 135 runs for 8 wickets. Due to rain, South Africa got a target of 123 runs in 17 overs. Africa scored 124 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 16.1 overs and won the match by 3 wickets.

West Indies out of the T20 World Cup 2024 after losing to South Africa

It has been the tradition of T20 World Cup that till now no host country has won the T20 World Cup. With West Indies being out, this tradition of T20 World Cup remained intact. West Indies players are considered specialists of T20 and play league cricket all over the world. Therefore, it was believed that West Indies could win the T20 World Cup. But this did not happen and West Indies has maintained the history of T20 World Cup by being out of the tournament.

The 2007 T20 World Cup was played in South Africa and India was the winner. The 2009 World Cup was played in England and Pakistan was the winner. England won the 2010 World Cup in West Indies. West Indies won the 2012 World Cup in Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka won the 2014 World Cup in Bangladesh. West Indies won the 2016 World Cup in India. Australia won the 2021 World Cup in UAE. England won the 2022 World Cup in Australia.
