India recently announced its 15 man World Cup 2023 squad and surprisingly Suryakumar Yadav was included in the squad despite having an ODI average of just 24. On the other hand, Sanju Samson with an average of 55 in ODIs was ignored by the selectors.
The decision has caused a massive uproar on the social media and many fans feel that Sanju Samson have been ignored due to the BCCI selectors own preferences and there probably was no logic behind their decision. However, the selectors are saying that Suryakumar Yadav is an X factor player who can make the team win from any position.
On the other hand, Suryakumar Yadav is failing to find a single game in Asia Cup 2023. Till now he has warmed the bench and is expected to continue to sit on the bench as the India batting order is almost settled. Ishan Kishan has performed well in the last few matches and is expected to retain his place.

Shreyas Iyer is India’s first choice number four batter and the top three is already settled. At six, Hardik Pandya is a done deal and the seventh place is occupied by Ravindra Jadeja. There seems to be no place for Suryakumar Yadav in the Indian playing 11 and if he fails to find any opportunity in Asia Cup 2023 then it is almost confirmed that he would only be a spectator in the World Cup despite being included in the squad.
