The WPL will surely set a benchmark in Indian women’s cricket history. The tournament will feature some of the best female cricketers from India and around the world, and it will surely become one of the most popular women’s T20 cricket leagues in the world.
The inaugural edition of Women’s Premier League is set to be played from 4th to 26th March 2023. A total of 22 matches will be played in this League, all at Brabourne Stadium & D.Y. Patil Stadium.

1. Gujarat Giants
Gujarat Giants is the Ahmedabad based WPL franchise. Adani Sportsline Private Limited, owned by Gautam Adani, won the bid to own the Ahmedabad franchise with the highest bid of Rs. 1289 CR.
2. Mumbai Indians
Mumbai Indians, as the name suggests, is the Mumbai based WPL franchise. IndiaWin Sports Private Limited won the bid for the Mumbai franchise with the second-highest bid of Rs. 912.99 CR. The company is a 100 percent subsidiary of Reliance Industries Limited, owned by Mukesh Ambani.
3. Royal Challengers Bangalore
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) is the Bengaluru based WPL franchise. Royal Challengers Sports Private Limited won the bid to acquire the Bengaluru franchise at the bidding amount of Rs. 901 CR. The group is a 100 percent subsidiary of United Spirits, which owns Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL Led by director Prathmesh Mishra.
4. Delhi Capitals
Delhi Capitals is the Delhi based WPL franchise. JSW GMR Cricket Private Limited paid 801 crores to win the bid of Delhi in the WPL.
5. UP Warriorz
UP Warriorz is the Lucknow based WPL franchise. Capri Global Holdings Private Limited (CGCL), a Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC), won the bid for Lucknow for a bid worth Rs.757 CR.
