BCCI Secretary Jay Shah confirmed that the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 is set to commence at the end of March, concluding by the end of May or the first week of June.
Regarding the Women’s Premier League (WPL), Shah mentioned that the upcoming season, starting in February, might have a probable kickoff on the 2nd or 3rd. He explained that logistical challenges led to the decision to host the WPL in one state this time.
While addressing reporters in Mumbai during the WPL auction, Shah emphasized that future editions could explore multiple cities, with the venue choice being a collaborative decision between franchises and the BCCI.
Responding to queries about the state for the second edition, he reiterated that the decision would be a collaborative one between the franchise and the BCCI. The previous edition of WPL took place between March 4 and 26, featuring matches at the DY Patil Stadium and the Brabourne Stadium.
