Steve Smith achieved a significant milestone on Thursday, June 8, as he scored his 31st Test century. The Australian batsman accomplished this feat during the World Test Championship (WTC) Final against India at the Oval in London.
With this century, Smith surpassed the records of both Virat Kohli and Ricky Ponting in terms of most hundreds in Test matches between India and Australia. He has now registered nine centuries in 36 innings across 19 Tests.
The record for the most hundreds in matches between the two nations is held by Sachin Tendulkar, who smashed 11 centuries and 16 fifties in 39 red-ball encounters, with a highest score of 241 not out.
In the meantime, India managed to dismiss Travis Head and Cameron Green in the first session on Day 2 of the match. Other than that Steve Smith also got out after scoring brilliant 121 runs and after the end of 101 overs Australia has 391 runs on board with the loss of 6 wickets.
