Ishan Kishan and Cameron Green both suffered nasty blows during the IPL Qualifier 2 match between Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans on Friday, casting doubt on their availability for the upcoming World Test Championship final.
Kishan, who was called up to replace the injured KL Rahul in India’s WTC final squad, was involved in an unfortunate incident with his Mumbai Indians teammate, Chris Jordan.
The collision caused Kishan to clutch the left side of his brow and eventually leave the field. He did not bat again in Mumbai’s chase against the Gujarat Titans. Kishan’s concussion replacement has been named Vishnu Vinod.
Meanwhile, in the second over of Mumbai’s innings, Green, the Australian all-rounder, was struck on the left elbow by a sharp delivery from Hardik Pandya. Despite the setback, Green remained composed and joined the batting lineup in the sixth over, following the dismissal of Tilak Verma.
The injuries to Kishan and Green have raised concerns for both teams ahead of the World Test Championship final, which is set to begin on June 7 at The Oval in London. The players’ availability for the prestigious match is still unknown, and both teams will closely monitor their recovery in the coming days.
