In the history of Cricket we have seen many cricketers enjoy a degree of success in one particular format but struggle in another. Cheteshwar Pujara, Adam Zampa are some of the best examples that could be given in this regard.
ODI and T20 Cricket also bear a similar look. Here, we look at three youngsters from the Indian Cricket Team who have done well in ODIs but not in T20Is.
1. Shubman Gill
Shubman Gill made his debut in 2019. Since then, he featured in 21 ODIs, scoring 1254 runs at a staggering average of 73.76 and a brilliant strike rate of 109.81. However, In the five T20I games he has played so far, he has scored just 76 runs at an average of 15.20.
2. Rishabh Pant
Rishabh Pant has established himself as one of the best wicketkeeper-batters for India. He has also done relatively well in ODIs, but failed miserably in the shortest format. Despite playing 66 T20Is, he failed to cement his place in the team because of an ordinary average of 22.43 and an underwhelming strike rate of 126.54.
3. Ishan Kishan
Ishan Kishan has played just 13 ODIs but has done well in the format. With one double century, he averages 46.09 in the format and has an impressive strike rate of 107.19. However, Kishan has an average of under 30 and doesn’t have a good strike rate either in the 26 T20Is he has played till now.
