India and Australia are going to play the Border-Gavaskar Trophy from 9th February 2023 at Nagpur Stadium. The Test series is quite important considering the fact that India’s chances of qualifying for the World Test Championship final on these four matches. Recently, Steve Smith said that BGT is bigger than the Ashes for Australian cricket team.

The Indian cricket team is without the likes of Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer and Jasprit Bumrah in the first Test against Australia. Also, there is a huge conundrum about the opening slots. Many people on the internet are speculating about KL Rahul and Shubman Gill’s chances of opening the inning with Rohit Sharma.

However, the latest reports are suggesting that Rohit Sharma can play at the 5th position as a middle order batter in BGT to accommodate both Shubman Gill and KL Rahul at the top. This would be an interesting move since the Aussies are preparing for Rohit and either Gill or Rahul at the opening.
