Gautam Gambhir, former Indian cricketer and commentator, recently revealed his thoughts on Rohit Sharma’s captaincy in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. After Team India won the second Test by six wickets in Delhi on February 19, Gambhir stated that Rohit Sharma’s success as a captain in Test cricket is largely due to Virat Kohli’s previous efforts.
According to Gambhir, Rohit Sharma has not created his own template but is instead following the one set by Kohli. “Rohit Sharma is a good captain, but there is no difference between Virat Kohli and Rohit’s captaincy in Test cricket. Virat started the template, and Rohit is following the same,” he stated on Star Sports.
Gambhir also praised Kohli’s exceptional leadership skills, adding that Rohit has simply followed the same pattern. He explained that Rohit has used spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja according to the situation, sometimes setting defensive field placements, while at other times, attacking ones.
With the scoreline currently 2-0 in favor of the home team, Gambhir’s insights have added an interesting perspective to the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy. As the remaining two games are still left to play, cricket enthusiasts around the world eagerly await to see how Rohit Sharma will lead his team to victory.
